Ready to Launch in the US

It looks like online gambling companies are bracing themselves for launching in the US market soon, including online gambling software providers.

Chief Executive of gambling software provider Playtech, Mor Weizer, has stated that his company is ready to launch in the US market when reforms take place in the United State’s online gambling legislation.

Since the introduction of the UIGEA in 2006, legalization and regulation of online gambling in the US has been slowly moving, but reform looks like it will come sooner rather than later. That being said, many gaming operators in the United States have looked to Playtech regarding joint ventures, and Playtech seems to have garnered much interest from US gaming operators because of their reputation and proven success in their software.

Weizer has said that “The timing is not clear but we see a genuine and positive momentum towards the regulation of online gambling,” and also added on “we see a lot of interest from operators in the U.S., and we are in discussions with various local groups.”

It will be easier for the Playtech to enter joint ventures with local operators and break into the market Weizer believes. The reason being is because of Playtech’s position as a software provider, and not as a gambling operator. Playtech is a business to business company, which means they will not be competing with local operators who will dominate the gambling industry. Playtech will simply be entering into a number of strategic partnerships with US companies, making their profit that way.
