Online Gambling More Popular Than Facebook

Renowned research group Neilson has recently completed a study that revealed that online gambling websites are more popular than social networking sites like Facebook. According to the research, in the UK, online casino websites obtained more traffic than the popular social media site.

Last year, social networking sites like Facebook obtained 2.2 million more users than they had the year before. Online casinos, on the other hand, saw a much more significant increase, with an additional 3.2 million visitors than in 2009. However, across the rest of the world, online gambling still falls behind Facebook and other social networks.

This is because the UK has one of the biggest gambling populations in the world. Not only are there dozens of casinos and sportsbooks in the land-based industry; online casinos also obtain a large portion of their business from players located in the country. It is one of the few countries that encourages online gambling, rather than banning it like the United States has.

It seems as though things can only go up from here. It is likely that other countries will soon follow the UK’s lead and invest more time into driving traffic to online casinos. The industry certainly helps to support economies, and the UK has the right idea by legalizing and regulating its own online gambling market.
