Several years ago, District of Columbia presented the most promise for becoming the first American state to legalize online gambling. Unfortunately, the plan never came to fruition, as political complications arose and gambling fans were left out in the cold. Now, DC could be looking at venturing into the online gambling market again, as Jack Evans has launched a new study on the market.
The study that Evans has commissioned is likely to examine the pros and cons of bringing online poker to DC. It would take a look at possible regulatory schemes and player protection provisions to ensure that the new online gambling system is fair and safe.
This would be a positive step in the right direction for online poker in DC, as it would shed some light on the topic. Previously, DC’s online poker bill failed to pass, as residents did not have the opportunity to weigh in on the topic. Now, it seems that Evans is gathering the necessary information to give them that opportunity – and we are eager to see how the strategy fares.
