No More SEGA Casino

Written By Janice Doughtrey

For months, the online gambling industry was abuzz with news of the launch of an online casino powered by SEGA, the popular video-game console developer. Finally, SEGA Casino was launched over the summer. It was initially well-received but we have just learned that the casino has been forced to shut down.

The details of the ordeal have been kept quiet so far, and industry insiders are scratching their heads over the situation.

It happened abruptly: players were simply notified to withdraw all of their funds and that remaining balances would be returned to their bank immediately. This took place on September 15, but it took quite some time for the word to spread as SEGA seems to have tried very hard to keep the situation quiet.

While many speculators believe that the casino shut down simply because it could not make a profit, others are certain that it was seeing a great deal of profitable business. According to one report, SEGA Casino was very popular among European players, who enjoyed the speficially SEGA-branded games.

There certainly is something strange going on behind SEGA’s exit from the online gambling industry, and we will be sure to keep you posted with details.
