Massachusetts to Explore Online Gambling

Now that the Department of Justice has made way for states to begin looking into the activity, politicians from across the country have jumped at the opportunity. Now, Massachusetts Treasure Steven Grossman is considering the possibility. He has announced that a taskforce will convene in Massachusetts this month to determine how effective it would be to launch online gambling in the state.

“I think we’ve got an obligation to the people of the commonwealth to study the whole basket of internet gaming options — including online poker,” Grossman says.

The new Online Products Task Force is made up of a panel of experts from across the state. They will gather to weigh the pros and cons of online gambling in the country. In addition to offer online lottery sales, the taskforce will look into the idea of offering online casino games and online poker.

State politician Daniel Winslow is certainly on board with the idea. He believes that many residents already gamble online at unlicensed websites, and supports the idea of licensing online gambling operators within the state to offer safe and secure options to players in Massachusetts.
