Playson reports gaming revenue in Ontario has gone up to CA$162m

iGO has released the first public report of market performance since the launch of the Ontario igaming market. Revenue was CA$162m through wagers totaling $4bn.

There are 18 gaming websites with 31 operators and a whopping 492,000 active players. These operators include US giants such as DraftKings, international groups like Entain, and local operators too. The average amount spent per month is $113.

Holland Casino reported earnings and paid off some of the deferred taxes it still owes.

Holland Casino is doing well, with their first-half revenue up to $353.4m, or more than all of their Covid-19-impacted 2021 full year revenue ($304.2m). 25% of the casinos’ revenue comes from online gambling. Knokke was closed for periods last year and saw a difficult recovery, but on the whole, it seems to suggest an improvement for the company.

The operator also repaid €51.7 million in tax. Holland Casino is back on its feet, and they are so grateful to their guests and employees. Holland Casino expects a positive year for their business. They also say that it depends on how fast they can hire employees. Holland Casino agreed to pay more in June. Recently, it has gotten a wage increase of 2.5 on each cent and €350 for all full-time staff by negotiating with two unions.

In May, Holland Casino named Petra de Ruiter as their new CEO. De Ruiter will replace Erwin van Lambaart who was announced as departing last month to take up the position of CEO of Casinos Austria. De Ruiter is currently chief operating officer at Transavia, where she is responsible for business operations. De Ruiter has also worked in roles at Air France-KLM.
