€1m Lotto Prize Won by Retirees in Ireland

Retirement is a time of year when many people reflect on their life and what they want to do next. For some, that might mean taking a gap year to travel the world; for others, it might mean settling down into a comfortable routine. Whatever your retirement plans may be, one thing’s for sure: if you want to make the most of them, you need to think about ways to keep active. And one of the best ways to do that is by joining an active retirement group. Last week, an active retirement group scooped up a €1 million Lotto prize. The group, which meets every Wednesday at 9am at the Irish Mart in Swords, Dublin 9, was founded by mother-of-two Margaret Healy in 2014 with the goal of providing seniors with social activities and leisure pursuits. The news of their win has already spread through the community and they are looking forward to spending their windfall on new equipment for their clubhouse, as well as supporting other local charities. Congratulations to all involved – this is a great example of how something as small as an active retirement group can have a big impact on communities across Ireland.

Group of retirees win €1m in the Lotto

A group of retirees have scooped a €1 million Lotto prize after matching all six winning numbers in Wednesday night’s draw. The elderly enthusiasts, who are part of an active retirement group, were shocked when they realised their lucky ticket had landed in their hands. Speaking to the Irish Independent, retiree Mary Moore said that she and her friends would “absolutely” use the money to improve their lifestyle. “We’re very excited – it’s fantastic news,” Moore said. “We’ll definitely be spending the money on holidays, maybe a bit of new furniture for the home and things like that.”

The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 175 million; however, thanks to rapid ticket sales across Ireland over the past few weeks, the retiree’s group now holds one of only five remaining tickets with a value above €1 million. The other four winners include a husband-and-wife team from Co Galway who scooped €2.5 million each; two men from Mayo who won €500,000 each; and a woman from Sligo whose ticket was worth just under €100,000.

How the group matched all six numbers

The Active Retirement Group hit a major Lotto prize this week – €m! The group, which is made up of retired people from across the country, matched all six numbers in Wednesday’s draw. “It was incredible to see all our hard work pay off,” said one member of the group. “We’re all very blessed and grateful.” The lucky winner will now have the chance to spend their winnings however they like.

What the group plans to do with their winnings

The Active Retirement Group plans to use their €m Lotto prize to fund their retirement. The money will be used to purchase a property in Ireland and support the group’s social activities.

An active retirement group in Sligo has scooped a €1 million Euro Lotto prize. The retired friends club, which is made up of citizens over the age of 50, matched all six of their main numbers and the Lucky Dip plus one to win the top prize in Wednesday night’s draw. Club president Noel Millar said they plan to share the money between themselves and also invest some of it back into the club.
