While many online casino operators have pulled out of the American online gambling market, due to regulation restrictions, Canada’s market has been left wholly untouched. Most foreign operators continue to offer their services to Canadian players, without having to worry about violating any laws – or at least that was the case until recently.
Earlier this week, Canadian players at Paddy Power, Bwin and Casino Club received emails from the operator stating that they would no longer be able to take part in online gambling activities at these particular websites. The email stated that the new online gambling regulations from provincial gambling commissions have impeded on their activities, but no details about the regulations have been released.
Players will still be able to play at the Flash version of these casinos, however. This fact alone has convinced industry insiders that Boss Media, the software company that powers all three websites, is behind the mystery. It is believed that Boss Media wants the license for Ontario’s new state-run online gambling website, and pulling out of the Canadian market will make it a front-runner for the bid.
