Friday, May 29th, 2009Eurosport is positioning themselves for several launches of their new betting platform across Europe in the coming year or so as they venture into the online sports betting market with eurosportBET.co.uk. The new site will be a joint venture between Eurosport and Serendipity, top investment firm in the media sector.
Eurosport, known as a top European sports satellite and cable network in 54 different countries, offers broadcasts in 20 different languages and features a variety of sport broadcasts including UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup football, Monte Carlo Rally, the Olympics, cycling events, tennis, World Championship Snooker, Australian Football, and much more. Serendipity Investment SAS is an investment firm that specializes in late stage, mature and middle market investments in the media sector.
June 1st is set as the launch date for the new members’ betting site that will offer nine different sports to gamble on and will be offered free to users. Future poker and live betting options are set to launch later in the summer as well as offerings in as many European countries as possible once online gambling regulations become more lax.
Eurosport’s plan is to launch two new sites a year for the next five years, beginning with Italy and France in 2010 followed by Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Belgium with a goal of 530,000 players by 2014.
Caroline de Fontenay, marketing director of SAS Betting, said the market indicates a trend toward easing up on online gambling regulation which makes this move perfect for Eurosport as sports betting is no longer associated with negative rules.
