Users Report Problems with iPhone 4

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Any issues that Apple users in North America have been having with the iPhone 4 are not being experienced by Europeans.  Almost immediately after the newest model was released, users began reported poor signal strength and screen discolouration issues.

iPhone users in Europe have had no problems transitioning the new phone into their daily lives.  In fact, online gamblers mentioned that the longer battery life makes it easy to log on and enjoy their favourite online gambling games while on the go.  Online gamblers are saying that they are still able to do everything that they used to with the older iPhones and are not experiencing any glitches.

And while iPhone users in North America are noticing several inconsistencies with the phone, gamblers are not yet able to gamble freely so a gambling application is not an option.  Apple has, however, left the door open so that when online gambling legislation in the US changes, the company will be able to offer online gambling apps to users.

The iPhone has made a world of difference for online gamblers in Europe.  Wireless capabilities means that online gamblers can sign onto a casino from their phone and use their commute time to gamble.  Before that, gambling had to be done near a wireless network, which still allowed a lot of freedom, but not as much as the iPhone applications offer.

Apple has already begun working on the reported glitches and is expected to have them cleared up soon.

Canadians spend over $1 Billion a year doing this….

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

The answer is gambling. Canadians have been gambling away money to the tune of over $1 Billion a year. $1 Billion! Governments all over the world have their own perspective on online gambling. The U.S states that it is illegal, China does not care for it either, and France has made it more difficult for online gaming companies to play at because they insist on licensing. Online gambling is not illegal in Canada, though gambling experts are saying that its time the government becomes involved to protect it’s Canadian players.

The U.S government has cited that legalization would allow for the government to “protect” its players, as well as reduce addiction.

Why do people gamble online? According to William Rutsey, president of the Canadian Gaming Association, it’s become a major form of leisure time, like surfing the internet.

A decade ago, online gaming was earning $1 Billion a year globally. It’s been 10 years since then, and that is now what Canada spends alone! Globally, the annual revenue of online gambling is a mind blowing $30 Billion.

Government involvement with online gambling would benefit players because gambling websites would have to go through a high standard of regulations to ensure proper management of sites as well as betting fairness. Players would also be prevented from using illegal operators with bogus websites as well.

InterCasino Puts Their Own Spin on World Cup Promotions

Friday, June 4th, 2010

InterCasino is known as the world’s first online casino.  And to keep up with their reputation of being the first, they have developed a new promotion in connection to the World Cup tournament beginning this month.

In an effort to distance them from every other online casino that is offering special promotions relating to the World Cup, InterCasino has developed the idea of instant cash bonuses for any players who bet correctly on a World Cup win prediction.  In total, there will be 64 games spread throughout the tournament.

This promotion is different from regular sports books in that players can play any of the online games at InterCasino that are part of the World Cup promotion.  For every 1000 pounds wagered, players will be allowed to place a bet on the outcome of a game.  The games included in the promotion are select slots games, table games, blackjack, poker and roulette.

The amount of wins will depend on the number of bets placed per game.  In addition to the bonus money, players who correctly wager on the outcome of a game will improve their standing in the World Cup Sports book League of Champions, a top reward in the sports betting industry.

InterCasino players should check in to the site regularly for updates and other World Cup promotions that are being held throughout the months of June and July.

Another Payment Processor Charged

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Canadian payment processor, Douglas Rennick was charged with violating the US Wire Act earlier this month. He plead guilty to the indictment of “providing payment services for Internet gambling businesses” through many of his companies from 2007 through 2009. He would transfer money to American banks from a bank in Cyprus.

This isn’t the first time Rennick had been charged. In the previous year, he had been charged by the U.S Depatment of Justice with illegal gambling, money laundering, and bank fraud.

It is estimated that his payment processing from 2007 to 2009 funneled out more than $350 million. Rennick will be sentenced on September 15, 2010. Because he plead guilty to a lesser charge, instead of facing up to 55 years in prison, he could be jailed for up to 12 months.

Last year, $34 million in funds were frozen by Manhattan US Attorney’s Office. Those funds were owed to over 14,000 players in the U.S. Wells Fargo was one of the accounts that had a piece of that 34 million. With 16.3 million in the Wells Fargo account, it belonged to one of Rennick’s companies, Account Services Corporation. Rennick sued to try and recover the money, but as he agreed to a plea bargain, he was required to forfeit it.

The effort by federal authorities to crack down on illegal gambling has also recently apprehended an Australian processor, Daniel Tzvetkoff. Despite the loss of 2 payment processors, there are still others around, and U.S players will continue to gamble online.

Royal Vegas Player Wins Big Jackpot

Friday, May 7th, 2010

RoyalVegas.co.uk has awarded one lucky player more than $29,000.  The woman won the jackpot while playing European Roulette Gold and the casino operators couldn’t be happier.

The casino is run by Fortune Lounge Group and is powered by Microgaming.  Both companies are well-known in the online casino industry for their quality and trustworthiness.  Royal Vegas representatives claim that they are thrilled to be able to maintain their reputation for high payouts.

The game itself is said to be an upgrade of the European version of roulette.  It is very popular among Royal Vegas players because it gives players more options in terms of placing bets and control over the game.  There are also features such as auto-play where a player can set their bets in advance and have them stored in the casino’s memory.  The redo and undo features are extremely popular, especially among new players learning the game as it allows for mistakes.

Royal Vegas is receiving a lot of attention for this win because of its significant size.  For new players interested in trying them out, a quick look at the winner’s list should be enough to persuade them to try it.  The list is constantly updated and regular players insist that they play at Royal Vegas for the variety of games and jackpot sizes.

New System to Protect Against Underage Gambling

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

A new Internet Service Provider is stepping in to the online casino industry in an effort to protect underage children from gambling online.  Many countries that have regulated online gambling are concerned about how to keep underage players from signing up.

The ISP operates out of the UK, which houses one of the online gambling industry’s biggest markets, plans to protect more than 3 billion minors from the dangers of online gambling.  The purpose of having a minimum age is because the part of the brain that is responsible for making rational decisions is not fully developed until a person reaches their 20’s.  Lawmakers see this as a reason to impose age restrictions on activities that can cloud judgement, such as gambling and drinking.

The plan is for every online casino to require that new players fill out an age certificate.  They will keep record of them to ensure that a person is of legal age every time they sign in.  This system will use individual login information every time someone uses the internet.

The problems that can occur with the system are that the age information is input by the person so there is nothing to stop them from lying about their age.  Also, the ISP could unintentionally block useful sites for parents and children that are deemed inappropriate by their content, regardless of the context.

Florida Moves Closer to Legalized Online Gambling

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Lawmakers in the state of Florida have made a decision regarding legalized online gambling.  The issue regarding complications with the Seminoles, a Native American tribe from Florida, has been resolved and both sides have come to an agreement.

The Seminoles will offer blackjack and Vegas-style slots and will receive their share of the revenue generated from taxes while the state of Florida will offer all other sectors of online gambling and benefit from the taxes produced by them.

If the two sides can stick by their agreement, there should not be a problem when it comes time for online gambling to be legalized and regulated.  If, however, either side asks for more than initially agreed upon, all progress will be halted until they can come to another agreement.  Therefore, the future of legalized online gambling in Florida depends on whether or not each of the two groups can uphold their end of the bargain.

The entire process of legalizing online gambling may still take several years as the government must work out any issues before passing anything.  That means that the majority of Florida citizens must be satisfied with the law.  In the event that many people oppose the bill, those lobbying on behalf of the online casino industry will have to find some way to convince them whether it is with factual evidence or a commitment to develop proper programs to combat addiction.

Ladbrokes Announces new Chief Executive

Monday, March 29th, 2010

One of the largest betting companies in the UK has made a decision and named their next Chief Executive.  The new addition to Ladbrokes is currently finalizing the details of his contract but an announcement is expected to be made early this week.

The employee change up comes as Chris Bell steps down from his position at Ladbrokes, one that he worked hard for during the 20 years he spent working for the company.  Several high-profile gambling industry leaders were being considered for the job but Richard Glynn, formerly of Sporting Index, won the race and is expected to be claiming the position shortly.

Glynn’s experience and industry success was clearly taken into account before this decision was made as Ladbrokes has recently reported to be suffering from poor betting results.  The industry continues to grow, closing the gap between Ladbrokes and their competitors.  Ladbrokes is hoping that the addition of Glynn will help them reclaim their status as the UK’s top betting company.

The new partnership is not completely one-sided, however.  Glynn is expecting to learn a lot from Ladbrokes and the way it works as an operator because he has never worked for a company as large as them.  He plans to use his skills, polished from the experience of running a smaller betting company, to help Ladbrokes extend their client base.  As the online gambling market opens up in the US, Ladbrokes plans to get in on the industry outside of the UK with the next stop being Italy.
